Babysitter's Training
The Babysitter's Training course at the Lafayette County Health department is through the American Red Cross and will teach you everything you need to be a great babysitter. This fun, interactive course teaches first aid and safety skills so you can prevent and respond to emergencies. As a Red Cross trained
babysitter, you will gain confidence and valuable employment skills to impress parents.
You Will Learn How To:
- Perform first aid and get professional medical help fast
- Identify common safety hazards and prevent injuries
- Make good, responsible decisions
- Supervise infants through school-age children
- Choose safe and age-appropriate toys and games
- Perform basic care routines like diapering, feeding, and dressing
- Prepare simple meals and snacks

- Handle bedtime issues
- Find and interview for babysitting jobs

- Hands-on activities, exciting video, demonstrations, fun role plays and lively discussion
- Decision-making skills and solutions for real-life problems
- First aid and basic care skills practice
- Earn an American Red Cross Babysitter's Training Certificate
