Private Insurance Billing

Lafayette County Health Department is excited to announce the capability to now bill some private insurance companies for Immunizations.  LCHD has contracts with the following insurance companies: Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of KC, ChampVA, Cigna, Coventry, Humana, Meritain, Tricare, UMR and United Health Care. Not all plans cover immunizations so please present your card prior to receiving services so we may check eligibility.  With funding for immunizations through Vaccine for Children Program being limited, this will be another way for LCHD to provide immunizations to our residents. LCHD conducts clinics at the office in Lexington every Monday from 1-4pm, every Wednesday from 8:30am-4pm, and the last Tuesday of the month from 8:30am-6:30pm.

LCHD participated from July, 2012 to October, 2013 in a CDC-funded insurance billing project through MO Dept of Health and Senior Services’ Bureau of Immunization Assessment and Assurance (BIAA).  The Insurance Billing Plan pilot project was formed to assist Local Public Health Agencies (LPHA) in implementing billing systems to bill Medicare, Medicaid and third party insurance companies for immunization services provided to insured individuals.  Staff participated in monthly workgroup meetings to identify challenges, barriers, and tools/resources of different billing programs available.  BIAA worked with the Department of Insurance, Financial Institutions and Professional Registration to set up meetings with various insurance companies’ provider relations departments.

LCHD spent several months attempting to obtain contracts with private insurance carriers. Many turned our office down the first few months, but due to other health departments in the pilot program being successful in obtaining contracts our office eventually had success.   LCHD was successful in obtaining modified immunization contracts.

Vaccine continues to be provided by the Vaccine for Children program of the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services .  The Lafayette County Health Department requests $10 per child (18 yrs. or younger) to cover cost of immunization administration supplies.  If you participate in Medicaid, please present your card prior to receiving services.  Donations are always accepted and appreciated to assist with the cost of administering vaccine.  No one is denied service due to inability to pay.  For further information contact LCHD, 547 South Business Highway 13, Lexington, or call (660) 259-4371, Monday through Friday, 8am-4:30pm.

All services are provided on a non-discriminatory basis.
