Volunteers

We Need You!

Lafayette County has numerous skilled and talented individuals, but our local emergency staffing resources are minimal. We need the abilities, ingenuity, compassion, and resourcefulness of the people in our county to help carry out any plan that we create. Volunteer efforts are vital to our goal of protecting the health and property of Lafayette County. Please consider lending your unique talents to our efforts. If you would like to sign up as a volunteer please print and fill out the Volunteer Application which is in a PDF format. You can mail it to the Lafayette County Health Department at 547 South Business 13 Hwy, Lexington, MO 64067.

How Can You Help

Flag

Even if you have no medical training, you may still be of great help during an emergency. Approximately 80% of tasks are non-medical. Patrons can be of great help by passing out instructions or information, helping others complete forms, helping feed staff and volunteers, entering data into computers, keeping track of supplies, and countless other non-medical duties.

Those with medical training we need you! Medical professionals are needed in emergency situations for many reasons from administering medications to basic care for our neighbors.

Volunteers With and Without Medical Experience Are Needed!

What are the Commitments of a Volunteer?

Potential volunteers will need to attend a short orientation session to learn more about the Public Health Emergency Response Plan and the roles of volunteers. Volunteers will also need to be available in case of an event that triggers a health emergency affecting Lafayette County. Watch for other optional training courses regarding specific areas of volunteer activities to be provided soon.

Thank You!

Lafayette County needs individuals working together to keep our communities healthy and safe in the event of a public emergency. Thank you for taking time to learn more and for your offer to help.

If you signed up as a volunteer, our volunteer coordinator will contact you about participating in upcoming volunteer training sessions where you will learn more about local volunteer opportunities.
